Love my Viper 5901 with proximity sensor under the cupholder.
I was thinking either under the cup holder or in the secret glove box for the proxy sensor are the best location for this sensor

I like it best under the cupholder because then it is centrally located within the cabin in case of a break in. Also, that makes it pretty close to centrally located as far as the total length of the car. Greta alarm.

I did have to play around with the sensitivity of the 2 zones for maybe 2 hours to get it right. It takes some time.

As far as the remote distance. I have found it to have excellent range but not 1 mile. Probably because its hard to find anywhere without some sort of obstruction. Overall I think it was a great buy for the price. I even had an air horn put on just for good measure. Nobody is taking my seats again and especially not without me knowing about it.

you have to be in an area with no tall objects to get the full mile range.
buildings, tress ect ect will be in the way of the transmitting signal between the two (remote and the alarm system itself). and that will cause the rang to be shorten.
I guess I'm screwed in NYC lol. I wouldn't park my car in the same spot for over an hour or two even with an alarm, unless I can see it. Especially since I installed a hardtop without locks. I'm paranoid
