Best aftermarket speakers to replace stock ones.....
Sheesh, that's a loaded question if there ever was one...opinions on this board abound
You'll find at least one person who thinks Brand X is the best for the money, where Brand X is every manufacturer under the sun. I'm never sure if people get tired of answering this and there will be two posts, or love to answer it and there will be 50 posts in 2 days...we shall see...

The way I pick speakers: take my favorite CD to trusted audio dealers, close my eyes, and pick the ones that sound the best... seriously!
Sure build quality and technology are important but it's all about whether you like the sound... (not opinionated, hu MacGyver?

Are you just replacing the stock speakers? Any plan to change the head unit? Will you add an amp later? Coaxials or component? Is the top mostly up or down? And finally, how much are you willing to spend? Are you planning to do it yourself? DO you want ease of installation, low cost or best result possible?

Saw your web page, nice stuff! I have 2 questions if you don't mind. 1. Where do you get Bass Shakers for $40? I paid about twice that a few years ago, and for $40 I'd buy another set for home. BTW, I put mine under the seats, you get less "feel" but more sound, as the floor vibration does produce sound.
2. I see you found the "rear" ouputs on the stock unit, too. So did I and I'm using them for the Bass Shakers with an extra amp. Only one problem - the rears do not mute. Vol & tone work fine, but no mute. Are you aware of a fix?

Agreed, bring some favorite CDs, and see what sounds best.
Closing your eyes is key--they play tricks, deceive, and plot schemes with your mind to fool you into believing in a certain product for the wrong reasons. Your ears don't lie.
(No, I'm not a spokesman for Dynaudio.

Me, I believe the old Boston Acoustics Rally series is much better than the new Rally series. Even better than BA's higher-priced, upmarket Pro Series. Why? Soft dome tweeters. MY ears like them better. Guess what? The old Rallies are discontinued now, but can still be bought...and are cheaper than all the other component sets BA sells.
So no, price doesn't dictate!!!
Try lots of brands, at lots of stores. Try silk tweeters and metallic. Use head units that are as close to your own as possible. Don't let anyone interrupt you. It's your money.
If you're going to have only speakers and maybe an aftermarket head unit, only buy coaxial speakers, NOT components. The tweeters in components WILL blow, or at least be strained, due to lack of power. I did it once.
