The best car alarm:
So this past week I thought of an alarm idea that I was really excited about. It's kinda like the 2-way pages, except the car will send a txt message to your cell phone.
So I went looking online and I did manage to find cell phone car alarms. But they're available in the UK only. Anyone know of any US makers making these alarms?
Here's an example: http://www.abacuscaralarms.co.uk/alarms/au...ch/autocate.htm

Clifford has an alarm with the same feature. I forgot what it was called. It was around $900, give or take. It even has a tracking system you can access from your phone or online, and you can disable the starter and a lot of other features too. It's very interesting.

I have the LoJack Early Warning package. It can contact you a handful of ways:
* Automated phone call
* Text message
* Pager
* Email
You can set it up to contact you up to five different ways simultaneously, so one way or another, you'll know if your car's been moved without you in it.
I far prefer these type of security systems over simple noisemaker alarms that don't scare anyone away, much less professional thieves, and simply make your neighbors your enemies.
No matter how many sensors your car has or how sensitive they are, if all your alarm does is make noise, your car is unprotected.
