Best speakers - without an amp?
Yep. I have a Kenwood MP625, no plans for an amp. Also looking for drop - ins w/o cutting...i dont want to screw anything up. the other thread recommended - Polk Audio db Series db6500. they're recommended for 100W but my stock HU pushes 50w? good/bad? thanks.
your HU doesn't even approach pushing 50 W.
about the best you're going to get out of a typical aftermarket HU is about 22 Wrms / channel. and even that might be with a bit of a tail wind...
the best way to choose speakers is to go listen to them... for HU type power, look for speakers with a rated sensitivity of 90 dB/W/m or greater... in fact, the higher that number, the louder they will get for the same power.
Infinity Reference series and Focal Access components both have high sensitivity numbers and are reasonably affordable.
