brake light on dashboard

Default brake light on dashboard

hey guys i just recently purchased a yellow 2001 s2000 and now the brake stays on the dash board while im still driving, the e-brake is all the way down. please help me!

That light comes on due to the emergency brake wire being grounded. I would remove your center console and check out the wiring around the handle, I suspect there is a short to ground in that area.

Your brake light will also come on if you are low in brake fluid. So make sure you check that as well.

IIRC fluid can be low due to pad wear as well.

You are correct. As you pads wear, it requires more fluid to fill the space. I'd have you brakes checked first and if they are close to needing to be replaced, have them replaced. If not, add some fluid and away with the warning light.
