Building a system for my S2K
in all honesty -- the K2P's and the 165V2 have very similar sensitivities... (92.5 dB/W/m vs 93 dB/W/m) you don't have to go up in power for them.
i really think the Kevlars are a much more 'alive' speaker than the polyglass. but the polyglass are hardly slouches themself...
your choices are pretty good - BUT if you go w/ the Xeon, i would strongly urge you to have things professionally configured and not mess w/ them afterwards. you'll be running 200 Wrms / channel to speakers rated for 100 Wrms. i would also suggest you go w/ the K2P's as they have the higher power rating of the two.
which Kicker amp? the Kicker's are amps that i've liked for years, even though a little pricey, though they generally rate them pretty low in power...
(don't bother w/ the cap. wasted money....)

Sweet!
Well that sounds like a pretty good plan then.
I'll do the Alpine HU, PG Xenon amp, Focal K2P's, Eclipse sub in custom enclosure.
Now, I've seen all of these things from various vendors online for some good prices. Are there any places I should avoid? Or are they all unauthorized sellers of the above products, so it won't matter anyway?
As for installation, I will have it all done professionally by my friend at the stereo shop. The last two systems I had him do, I already had the components. He just installed it and tuned it correctly, especially for when I'm pushing more power to the speakers than necessary.
Any suggestions for where to buy? Or just the cheapest I can find?
I found the Alpine 9831 for $299 at Etronics (through pricegrabber or biz-whatever-it's called search thingys).
Should I worry if they are not "authorized" since I'll be saving hundreds over my local shop?
For example, they are selling the Focal K2P's for $999!!! I've seen them online for half that!
Thanks!
Nate
p.s. I don't know which Kicker amp. I'll have to ask again. It put out a lot of power for the price, but quality wasn't going to be as good as Memphis' higher quality series.

sounddomain is authorized for most of their stuff. here They don't carry everything you wanted, but you could pricematch the stuff you wanted that they carry from there. Also, the more reputed places may not give the manufacturer warranty, but have their own warranty so if something breaks then just return for replacement.
If it makes you feel better to buy at an authorized place, you can look around and see if they pricematch. When I bought my stuff for the Integra, I went to that place on University who have since moved to Main ST. I can't remember the name off hand since this was about 4 years ago. May have been Audioworx, but I used online prices and they price matched.

I'll see about the price matching, but they have already said that they can't beat the online prices. Most of the shops have signs that say they will not match online prices due to being an authorized carrier.
Audioworx is now called Audiowaves. New owners, also have a shop in Lake City. One of the guys said they are more willing to lower prices/be competitive compared to when they were owned by Safari.
So I'll check into it. I see that Sounddomain says they are an authorized carrier of Phoenix Gold, so I'll check into it.
I'm also seeing what SDP can do in regards to price on the Focal K2P's. They are selling them for $999, and I found them online (www.acaraudio.com) for $479. I also found the PG Xenon x200.4 at the same place for $599. That's a helluva deal, but I don't think they are authorized for any of their products.
I'll talk to the local shops today and see what they can do as far as pricing.
But I believe that will be my set up.
1) Alpine 9831
2) PG Xenon x200.4
3) Focal K2P
4) Eclipse 10" sub (also still considering TREO or JL)
5) Wires and such

OK...you got everything right....except pay close attention to Phil's post. MAKE SURE!!! that you get the amp configured by the pros, and never touch it again. 200x4, while a great powerful amp, will destroy your focals with the quickness if set up wrong. Properly done, youll be singing along all day long.
Next, do not spend more than 300, 350 MAX on the fronts. There is absolutely no reason to spend 500 dollars on speakers in an S2000.
Finally, get the Eclipse Aluminum 10" The Ti likes a bit more power (600+), but the aluminum, 400 is perfect. Although Aluminum takes a tad more power to get it to move, with 400wrms, its not an issue, and Aluminum has better reflexes than Kevlar/paper/polypropelene cones. Thus giveing you tighter, more accurate, cleaner bass.
Good luck.
Oh, and buying online....before you purchase, let me know where you got the deals and Ill tell you if its safe. Ive dealt with most of the companies out there. Better yeyt, come to a 100% decision on what you want, and Ill find you the best price at good stores.

Yes, I'll be sure to have it professionally installed and tuned and not mess with the controls. I trust my friend, and he is careful not to push the amp and speakers too much, so I know he'll tune it right.
I'm still debating between the Clarion 745 and Alpine 9831. I found the Alpine for $299 at Etronics and $349 with onlinecarstereo.com.
I found the Clarion 745 for $289 at onlinecarstereo.
I'll go with one of the above. The only advantage to the Clarion is that it comes with the Sirius receiver for free, so I only need the antenna to have satellite radio. Both have three 4-volt pre-amp outputs. Recommendations?
I would like to go with the Focal 165K2P's since they will be able to handle the power better, and they should sound awesome. I found them for $479 at one site (can't remember if it was TheZeb or another place). I also found them for $499 at onlinecarstereo.com. Should I go with these, or spend a bit less and go for the 165KP's? Recommendations?
I found the Phoenix Gold Xenon x200.4 for $599 at onlinecarstereo.com and for $698.99 at the link you listed before. Recommendations?
I can get the Eclipse Aluminum 10" sub from my local shop. They recommended the SW since I'd be putting less power, but if 400w is enough, then I'll go with the Aluminum. They have a good price on it as well. And I'll have them do my custom enclosure.
Okay, so since that's what I'm going with, and those are the prices and places I found, are they legit? Or should I find other places (sounddomain) that are authorized for the products and order from them?
I'll get the wires and have everything else done at the local shop by my friend.
I'm ready to go! So your recommendations on where to purchase the above and some links would be GREAT!
Thanks!
Nate

Bro...take my word for it, get the Alpine. They are simply the best. Easiest to use, running order....perfect.
Get the Headunit from etronics. They are fine for stuff like that.
Get the amp from ONLINECARSTEREO....they are great as well.
The eclipse sub is 249 online, so bring that price back to your shop.
Get an Alpine with Mp3.....mp3 is harder to add than satellite radio, so do that. (trust me, I have all three mp3 headunit, XM, and Mp3 changer)
Good luck!!

Cool. I'll stick with the Alpine. I'm worried about Etronics though. That link that I posted earlier said bad things about them and their policies. Should I be worried that these places aren't authorized carriers? I don't want to spend all this money and have something mess up and not get it replaced or fixed. Or is that the price you pay for saving money rather than buying from a shop?
If ONLINECARSTEREO is recommended, then I'll get most of the stuff from them, as they had the best prices. Cool.
The Alpine 9831 plays MP3's as well, so I'll be good to go.
SWEET!
