Default In-cabin sub options

Hello all, looking for some advice. I'd like to install a sub in the cabin (prefer not to take up more trunk area than I have to) and am looking at options. I'm not looking to rattle teeth but for something to help round out the bottom end. Highs/mids will be some basic JL separates.

I prefer not to go beyond a simple sealed box, i.e. I don't have the skill nor the funds to hire out custom pods or something that intense. I've been looking at some of the low-profile subs out there and have been impressed with a couple of smaller ones.

So- I've got a convertible top, so the roof well is probably out. I'm thinking the passenger footwell is the only option.

Am I missing anything?

I'm also curious for those that have experience with 8's... just how much bottom end am I going to lose in-cabin vs say, a 10 in the trunk? According to T-S params for subs and the box size I can fit in the footwell, I think I can stay within about 10 hz of -3db and -6 or -10db points.

i have on of the boss bass600's behind my passenger seat. If you are experienced at installing subs it might not have been to bad but for me doing it with the stock head unit was the hardest car related thing i've done. But it provides a good low.. not much in the lines of bump. but it sounds good if you listen to mostly rock music.

Cool, thanks. The BOSS appears to be a little less than 3" deep, I don't think I could squeeze that behind me but probably the pass seat like you did. You're really that happy with it? Rock, or more specifically, not basshead rap music, is primarily what I listen to.

To be a stickler, rock music is actually more bass intensive, in terms of variable bass, than rap. A good subwoofer will provide more improvement to rock music than to rap.

Modifry managed to stick a 10" sub in the passenger footwell with almost no loss of legroom: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...0&#entry2028533
