Default Headunits and USB for MP3 playback

For those of you that don't use an iPhone or iPod/iTouch to play music in your cars, but rather just USB sticks or CDs with Mp3s/digital media on them give any input? Good or bad...

I've been reading on crutchfield lately regarding this and although many people are happy with the iPhone interface on their headunits, those that do not care for the iPhone are having complaints regarding USB stick playback. Examples of some complaints are USB not being read due to USB memory size, horrible interface, etc...

I prefer my iPod but I have used the UBS on my HU for music, movies , and pictures and it's great but you have to make sure to organize the files and folders for it to work properly. If I could fab up a ways to add a splitter with a switch that would make it ideal for me.

to make this long post shorter UBS w/ thumb drives
