you can get either a 2 ohm or 8 ohm load with those woofers together. how are they wired? if they are all in series then 8 ohms isnt gonna net much from the 5th channel.

im sure you checked that but its all i can think of. you need those at a 2 ohm total for that setup.(assuming they are dual 2 ohm woofers each)

i'm really really bad with technical stuff. i've got the wires going from the amp to each subwoofer (1 positive & 1 negative to each). does that mean i've got them running at 2 ohm or 8 ohm?

how do you suggest i wire them (for best use)?

The 8W3v2's are dual voice coil subs. You may have only hooked up one of the voice coils. There should be two positives and two negatives, a pair of posts on each side of the subwoofer. There are 2, 4 and 6 ohms per coil versions of this sub. How many ohms per voice-coil you have should be indicated by the last digit of the model number. For example I have an 8W3v2-D2. This subwoofer has dual 2 Ohm voice coils. You can wire each sub in parallel or series as needed to work with your system. To get further help on this you should give us the resistance (Ohms) of each voice coil and the specifications of the amp you are using to power the two subs.

2 DVC drivers with Voice Coils in Series / Parallel
Connecting the two voice coils of each driver in series (+ to -) and the drivers themselves in parallel (+ to +, etc.) will result in the following impedances:
Dual-6 Ohm Subwoofers: 6 Ohms
Dual-4 Ohm Subwoofer: 4 Ohms
Dual-2 Ohm Subwoofer: 2 Ohms

that's what they are. how would i wire that?
Well, that depends on your amp. I'm assuming you are going to run both subs from the sub channel on your five channel amp. The link for you amp says this channel is rated for 250 W RMS @ 1.5 ohm-4 ohm. So if you are going to drive both subs off of the single sub channel, you have two choices. Go to http://www.jlaudio.com/subwoofers/8w3v2.html and click on the "Data Sheet for this model" PDF file. Look on page two under Wiring Options. You will need to wire your subs in either series (which will give a total load of 4ohms) or parallel (which will give a total load of 1ohms.) You sub is not rated at a 1ohm load so I wouldn't recommend the parallel option. Unfortunately at a 4 ohm load your amp will most likely not provide anywhere near 250W RMS, (I'm assuming that the 250W RMS rating is the max output of the amp at 1.5ohms.) Anyway, your best bet is to wire your subs as per the picture in that PDF file for a two sub system in series (The second picture down on the left side under Wiring Options.) Also, you will need to pull each sub out of it's enclosure and be sure that there is a jumper wire between the two voice coils as per the picture.

If after doing this (if it isn't already like this) and you still aren
