Default Clean wiring Q

Just curious about how some of the awesome installs I've seen here manage to hide/keep clean all the wiring.

For example, when running wires through visible areas of amp racks or custom mounts are you guys using grommets?

I got some snap rings online and they would probably work ok but using one for every wire wouldn't seem to make sense. There are bigger ones like for desks, but I don't think that would really look great because of the size.

It's hard to tell from the picts but it almost looks like most people just stretch the carpet over a hole or slot in the board then just slit the carpet to pass the wires through?

Pre-drill the rack before carpeting. Once carpeted, use a razor blade to slice a plus (+) in the location of the hole so the cables can pass thru easily, but still allow the carpet to look semi-closed.
