Default component speak problem

ok so i just re-installed my component speakers (2 speakers, 2 tweeters)...i connected them to my HU...question: would it matter if i hook up front left, rear left, right rear, right front with any tweeter or speaker since my HU outputs the same 52x4W for each?...would (-) (+) connections make a difference?...i installed and all speakers and tweeters work but when i turn past a certain point (amount to midpoint on volume scale)...i get static crackling noises from both tweeters...is it connection problem like loose wires or wrong connection itself, or is it becuz the HU can only put out a certain amount of power and its the max???

thanks in advance

if you hook positive and negative up incorrectly you reversed the polarity and you'll get distortion... check that first.

Well, it is a bit more complicated than "getting distortion". You will actually get one speaker generating a signal correctly, and the other speaker will be creating a similar signal but 180 degrees out of phase. This will condition will basically cancel out the correct signal to a certain degree and you will lose a significant amount of sound. Over all the sound quality will appear VERY hollow and empty.

Speakers being out-of-phase won't cause distortion. Bad connections and/or overdriving the amp will though.
