I wouldn't spend more than $80 on replacement speakers for the S without adding an amp. The power output of the stock head unit is only going to destroy any decent speaker due to clipping and you aren't going to get any appreciable improvement in sound beyond about $80 (my estimate) without an amp. Component speakers are extreme overkill without adding an amp and/or replacing the head unit.
