Confirm Parts List for Audio Upgrade
Like most folks I’m upgrading my head unit and speakers on my 2002 S2000. Here is the list of parts (see below) I think I need to complete the full install. I’m going to have a professional do the full install. Thanks for any help you can provide on these questions!! Much appreciated :-)
Questions:
PARTS:
Alpine media player (No CD): UTE-62BT
Questions:
- Is there something I’m missing (e.g., sound dampening material to reduce vibrations, etc.)?
- Will the use of a non-CD head unit open up enough space to allow for the Alpine amp (KTP-445A) to fit inside the dash?
- What mods are needed to install Polk Audio DB6502 tweeters and woofers?
- Do I need Modifry’s Plastic Speaker Rings for 6.5” drivers?
- Will the Pioneer TS-WH500A subwoofer fit under the passenger seat and allow the seat to still slide?
PARTS:
Alpine media player (No CD): UTE-62BT
- Wired DCI for Alpine
- Alpine PnP Harness
- Plastic Speaker Rings for 6.5" drivers
- Polk Audio DB6502 – component speaker system (2 woofers and 2 tweeters)
- Subwoofer: Pioneer TS-WH500A Hvt Sealed 8.25" 150W Active Subwoofer
- 2 pair (4 total): Metra 72-7800 Speaker Connector Harnesses for Select Honda Vehicles
I’m planning on installing it under the passenger seat. I found a forum post by another S2K owner who installed it their. Unfortunately he’s pics were no longer active. What wasn’t clear from his post was if it interfered with the seat moving forward and back. If it interferes with the seat, I want it behind the passenger seat.

Hard to believe over 30,000 aftermarket radios were installed S2000s in the USA alone!
I'm not sure even "many" would be accurate. Does seem to be fairly common for unknown reasons (as the wind and engine noise drowns out anything our of the radio on these cars).-- Chuck
You'll only need one pair of the speaker harnesses - they connect to the factory wiring in each door.
You'll need speaker wire to run from the speaker harness to the crossover, and from the crossover to the
woofer and to the tweeter. The wire running into the door is not very thick, so there'd be no benefit to
running fat wires within the door, so any speaker wire will do.
You'll also need to go from the headunit to the powered subwoofer, and power wire for
the sub. Maybe go with a kit like which appears to come with speaker wire too.
Hmm, I just looked up the specs, and it has a 10amp fuse, so that wiring kit is definitely overkill -
you should be able to plug it into an accessory terminal in the under-dash fuse box, if the supplied
wires are long enough.

Got data to support this?
