Couple electrical problems
I've had my car for a month now and have a few issues with it.
1. Dome light stays on for about 5-10 seconds and shuts off regardless of whether any doors are open.
2. There is no chime when I leave my lights on after shutting the car off, again, regardless of whether doors are open or not.
3. Cruise control doesn't work. The button on the dash lights up and when I push the button on the steering wheel, that lights up, but cruise control is never engaged. I pulled the cover off the actual unit underneath the hood and the cable appears fine. Is there maybe a seperate fuse and/or relay that may be out that would still allow the lights to go on?
As far as the dome and chime go, I know the door pin is working because it is connected to my alarm. However, I did the install myself and connected the trigger wire directly to the door pin. Before the alarm, this was still an issue.
Thanks in advance for any help

I'm assuming you bought the car used or you would be telling th edealer about these problems. You didn't mention what year the car is, which can make a difference.
But, I'm not sure these issues are related.
The same fuse the powers the Cruise lights also powers the actuator module. Add to that the fact that the dash light comes on indicating you have engaged Cruise makes it sound like the problem is in the actuator unit.
The overhead light is controlled by the Keyless Entry module which gets the "door open" signal after it passes through the gauges. Does your "door open" light illuminate in the gauge when the door is open?
The chime is inside the gauge cluster and gets +12v from the same source that powers the gauges so we'll assume that's OK. There is a CPU in the cluster that gets inputs from the ignition key, tail lights, and the door switches. When it sees the key is inserted or the lights are on AND the door is opened it activates the chime. In addition, the driver's seat belt switch will activate the chime if the seat belt is not buckled and the ignition is ON.
Does the chime operate with the ignition ON and belt not buckled? Is it possible the previous owner killed the chime?

i believe you're right. come to think of it, i've never heard the chime before. when not buckled in..nothing.
also, are you referring to the green key in the guage? seen that one many times. i'll pay more attention now that i know about it.
what scares me is that i had to completely redo the stereo when i bought it because the wiring was butchered. previous owner apparently hacked into the factory wiring to run a sub and left a mess. i'm afraid he might have poked around a lot more than that.
as far as the actuator goes, i'll try to find one locally and see if it works.
thanks for the help!
