Default Dash-Mounted Monitor Trim Piece

I've read through alot of the NAV threads and seen some terrific and inspiring installs. It seems though that all of the trim pieces needed to be custom fabricated. I would imagine that such custom work costs a pretty penny. Has anyone come across an off-the-shelf trim piece for the S that works well with an Alpine monitor or even the all-in-one Eclipse AVN units?

That's what I was afraid of. I know car audio shops will differ in price (and quality) but can someone give me a ball-park idea for how much this might cost (just the fabrication of the trim piece)?

It really is a get what you pay for kind of purchase. I had mine made by a very high quality craftsmen /fiberglass fabricator. Mainly because I dont have those skills, and time is $$ for me. The shop I used charges $700-800 which granted is a lot, but everyone who sees mine says it is one of the cleanest and a great install. The shop has done about 5 monitor/Nav installs on S2000's after mine

Remember, you do get what you pay for..I have see some real hack jobs out there. Be confident in the installers you use.

Hmmm, the MasterGrade trim IMHO doesn't look all that integrated with the dash. I've also just read a thread on using a JDM OEM trim piece. Does anyone know a) how well things line up when put on the RHS as opposed to JDM's LHS of the dash, and b) where and for how much such a piece can be obtained from within the states?

Yo can install the JDM trim plate but then the screen will face the passenger more than the driver.

Sounds like fabrication is the only real way to go. Although I'm definitely a bit weary about crafting a trim piece myself, does anyone know if there are any write-ups or discussions on this process. I've done several searches and skimmed through the Audio FAQ thread but the closest I came was the exemplary description DarkKnight provided for fabricating a fiberglass sub box. Can someone point me toward any relevant discussions or descriptions. Thanks
