Default Dash Radio Controls

I bought a new stereo for my AP1. I got a Kenwood excelon kdc-x997. When I had the stock stereo I loved the dash controls. And now I want to hook them back up on this new one. Does anyone know how I can do that?

I work in car audio and this is the one thing everyone wants but doesnt want to pay for. There is a part that goes on to your wiring harness that enables your steering wheel controls. We use Metra products and for my s2k (02 model) you need an ASWC-1. It runs about $100 where I work and you can probably find it cheaper online. Check out metraonline.com and you can put in your car to show you what part you will need.

PAC MOD google it. Easy to do. I was the first to get it working with this unit in our cars.

P.S. Hats off to P-Man for unraveling this mystery so many years ago.

I have a problem with the dash control. All the buttons used to work on my aftermarket Alpine unit but now only the MUTE BUTTON works. I didn't touch any wiring. Could it be I hit some dash button combo which resulted in this issue? Here's a photo of my head unit Alpine CDA-9887R

If you are using the PAC mod with the remote eye to send signals to the HU then.......where is it?

Said.......remote EYE that sends out the signal to the radio. If you didn't install the mod find out who did. If it was in the car when you bought it and not comfortable investigating take it to a stereo shop that has been in business for more than 8 years.

If the shop has lasted 8 years in this market they are reputable enough in my opinion to trust them and won't be a fly by night.
