I have my new 9857 and a wired DCI with harness. For those that have installed the DCI did you trim the wires or use as is?

Oops, looks like a repost - I looked earlier this afternoon and didn't see my first post so I tried again. Sorry for taking everyones time.

 

I left the wires long, and have the DCI hanging out the passenger's
side but covered by the knee panel. this way if I want to change the
speed-sensitive volume control settings, I can easily, without pulling
the headunit.
