Default Diamond Audio D971

My friend told me he could get me a hookup on any diamond audio equipment ...Im assuming I cannot do this on a large scale. But he said he can get about a $250 sub for $50 bucks.

But since I was looking for speakers, I wanted to look at the highest quality speakers they made.

Diamond Audio D971 specs
Power Handling NOM/MAX: 200/400 watts
Sensitivity (2.83V/1m): 92 dB SPL
Freq. Response: 35-30
Type: Component
Size: 7inch Mid 1inch Tweet
Mounting Depth/Diameter: 2.7 in. / 6.3 in.

Avg price $650
Hopefully...I could get them for $150 or so...

But, anyways...would these even fit? Ive seen them marked as 6.5" and 7". And nom watts at 200...Would 150 watts be suffice if i purchased a Jl Audio 300/2? Or would that disrupt the quality of the speaker?

You *might* be able to get away with it if the magnet assembly isnt too wide, and you use a spacer. Im leaning towards no.

Ya. I guess...either way, if i could get it even for $200 bucks...then I could sell it for 500 and make $300 bucks doing nothing. I guess I wouldnt mind that.

I believe "NO RIDE" has CDT ES-07's installed, which are
outer diameter 7.125"
cutout diameter 5.87"
mounting depth 2.87"
so I suspect the diamonds could work. try PM'ing him for
more info, or do a search.

thanks. I pm'ed him. What do you think about runing a jl 300/2 to the 971's? You think that is underpowering them?

I was going to put those in the ex's S. I was confident they would fit, or I would have made them fit.

revhi:
have you listened to them before? Whats your opinion on them? Do they require atleast 200 watts of power?

Can you compare them to infinity kappa perfects by any chance?

They are a bit brighter than the Kappas and have more midbass for the obvious reason.

They dont need 200 watts, but I would definetly recommend more than that.

I was going to use a Diamond D6 600.4 and bridge it into 2 channel at 300X2 4 ohms.

No point in getting such a great component and under powering them. Its like buying a 6 cylinder mustang.

ha. 6 cylinder mustang. stupid.

Cool man. Apprec. it. I was hoping to save some space in my trunk by putting the amp(jl 300/2) up by the gas tank...which the 600.4, im assuming, will not fit.

Theres still an upside...maybe if i can get a couple pairs cheap though ~150-200bucks, Ill just sell them on ebay and make soem good cash.
