I totally agreed, I wouldn't spend too much money on it and besides that, all you need is the sound of the song because you will be singing along anyways lol me every day

Interesting. When I download a streaming service or app on my phone, the symbol appears (with the tuner, CD, AUX etc) on the Sony app as it starts up (automatically when it senses it is in the car) so I can choose what I want. It stays on that for the next start up until I change it.

T Mobile is great for unlimited streaming especially overseas (2 weeks a month for me)

I used to avoid Pandora in the car for fear of excessive data consumption. Then one month my wife and I decided to experiment. We both ran Pandora in the car all the time. Turns out the data used was well within the limits of my plan. No worries. I use it all the time now and I like it. One thing about the Alpine though that I don't like. when I use Pandora the headunit takes over the display on the phone. That is a PIA. If anyone knows how to avoid that let me know. Not sure if it is affected by the type of connection, BT v USB. Otherwise I am happy with the Alpine HU. No plans to change. Might add the little Alpine underdash amp.

I use Sirius/Xm. It's on all the time. For phone, I use Bluetooth.

Have an Alpine head unit (CDE-SXM 145BT).

Different strokes for different folks. No worries.

I like being able to hear the stereo at 75mph with the top down.

If that is the goal, the Alpine offerings work just fine.

Not to get into a pissing match, but there's a difference between hearing it, and hearing it properly.

If you mean that black screen that appears on the phone, it is not phone or head unit dependent. It is the Pandora interface itself that does that.
