"To remove the head unit:
Put the shifter in reverse (to get it out of the way)
Carefully pry out the vent/door cover. Start at the top. When that's loose, open the door and gently, but firmy, work the cover loose and off.
Undo two screws at each side of the head unit."

Suggestions:

What I usually do is remove the shift knob to make more room, takes about 10 seconds to do. Then cover the shifter with a microfiber towel (or rag) to prevent it from scratching anything.

When pulling off the cover I lower the door, grab the door and pull the right side till I hear a pop, repeat for the left side.

Just a word of caution for people looking to purchase the 9886 thinking the button's can change colour.

The us model Cda-9886 dosent have this feature and is stuck to the blue illumination.

The Uk model Cda-9886R can change colours to blue/red/orange/green.

Wonder if slapping on a 9886r face plate on an 9886 would work anyone tried this?

Read the FAQ. All the info you need is there, including instructions to remove every panel in the interior.
