Is there a crossover for the OEM speakers or is the speaker wire split evenly between the woofer and tweeter?
Is there just one speaker wire coming into the door panel that will be spliced and sent to the new crossover I'm installing?

I'm replacing with Polk Audio 6501's in my '06 after reading positive feedback from the forum. Thanks.

I did that first, put in new high efficiency polks with stock HU. Much better sound! but you still lose it with the top down...

Thanks, just did mine! Although I didn't go all out with the components myself. I got Pioneer 3 ways that sound ok, but I bet if I heard yours I would have wanted to get components.

i dont think the stock speakers have a crossover built in, but I could be wrong

if you get the MM6501's, there are crossovers to do that job for you though

I purchased POLK DB6501 6.5" COMPONENT SYSTEM, and tried to install them but I noticed my stock speaker basket wont line up with the holes in on the polk speakers. I cant drill new holes because the stock basket rim diameter is a little bigger so it drilling new screw holes isn't a option.

What should I use to make new brackets? Lexan?

Either make some in MDF or buy some plastic speaker spacer on ebay

I just bought these exact same speakers and installed them yesterday. You are right, the holes on the speaker do not line up with the honda speaker basket but I was able to mount the speakers on the polk audio plastic speaker mounts and then line up holes from that plastic mount to holes on the honda speaker basket and then mount them back in the door.

I just wanted to thank the person who originally made this post with the great step by step instructions. I spent more time than I would like to admit installing a new HU and Polk Audio component speakers yesterday. but in the end, everything is in place, sounds great, and most importantly nothing is destroyed on the car! The instructions that came with the speakers are a joke! I could have never done this project without the help of these instructions, so again, thank you.

Great write up. Been a big help!

Just wanted to ask 1 queastion...

Would it be ok to mount the tweeter on the metal bracket using a strong 1mm thick double sided tape? Wasnt sure if it might allow the tweeter to vibrate on the mount causing distortion?
