Awesome write-up. What model Polks did you installed? I may as well get the same speaker and know for sure that everything fits.

Installed a set of Infinity REF6030CS components and a Kenwood KDC-BT60U today. Very pleased with the result! The speakers fitted into the stock basket (just) using the spacer ring provided

Two weeks ago I got my S2k Silver and Red/black. Drivers side woofer was blown out. This post gave me the nerve to carefully dissect my favorite possession.

Would be nice if someone posted the colors of the wires and their polarity.

Also My MB Quart Separates did not fit. The baskets were huge. I went to Best Buy and got 1/2" Spacers which replaced the stock basket thing . Then I had to use self tapping screws and screw in the speakers (cringe) Because if the problems and 4 trips for supplies. I gave up after putting in one speaker. I am shocked that the woofer is full range!

I think I will try it again. Just too many snags today.

Also Guys why not use HOT GLUE to hold that crossover in. I love hot glue.

My crossover is too big to fit in that pocket. What is that pocket for? it says Protector on it. Is it a side impact hip crunch thing?

I purchased POLK DB6501 6.5" COMPONENT SYSTEM, and tried to install them but I noticed my stock speaker basket wont line up with the holes in on the polk speakers. I cant drill new holes because the stock basket rim diameter is a little bigger so it drilling new screw holes isn't a option.

What should I use to make new brackets? Lexan?
I slotted the two upper tabs to the adapter ring.

I'm going to install a jl 300/2 amp for the components. Is there a DIY? I'm going to change all the speaker wire in the car. Do I just replace the current wire with new speaker wire? Like change the speaker wire for the tweeter with new wire? What about the side speakers... do I just attach new speaker wire from the harness to the speakers? Lastly, what speaker wires do I connect to the amp?

Thanks

What is everyones thoughts on sound deadening either the back of the door panel or the door itself to help cut down on road noise? Prob would use a light coat of rubberized sound deading aerosol.

Threads so great it deserves a bump!

Ill be installing mine soon, got some custom brackets made for the door speakers and its gonna be ICE!

Think 16GA wire is good enough for the speakers? They are 100RMS and 200 PEAK, the amp will provide exactly that.
