Default Do I need lucid's baffles? I'm baffled!

I am replacing the stock door speakers, but am having touble getting the speakers to fit even cutting out the back of the stock baskets. I am going to order Lucid's speaker adapters, but before I do I was wondering if I need his baffles too. There are no pix on his site. I THINK these are to help direct sound into the cabin, and protect the speakers from water shedding throught the doors.

Suggestions?

The baffles will help protect the speakers from water inside the door. I have a set but have yet to install them. I am just too lazey to open up the door panels in put them in. You might want to request that he ships the slim version of these if you get them I got the 3" version when I ordered and I will have to trim them up a bit so they don't rub on the windows.

They look like this:

I bought my rear speakers with the baffles, but I took them off because I didn't like the sound they made. They also limited the amount I could turn it up without them making a strange vibration noise (probably due to not enough airspace for the speaker to work well). I'd say you don't need them.

I have Focal 165k2's with Lucid's speaker adapters and I don't think there's enough room for the baffles to clear the window.

I've tried these types of baffles before in my previous car and they also vibrated (little airspace) and made noise. I eventually just took them out.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the help, and all opinions are welcome!

I never drive the car intentionally in rain, but I am concerned about dammaging the speakers durring a wash. (I do hand wash.) I ordered the baffels, I will see if they fit or not. They were only $10. I figure: no more delays. I am getting fed up with this project already!

Do I have to worry about water in the doors durring a car wash?

IMHO, the baffle is not a good idea. I have not tried the one's lucid sells but made something quite similar out of a tupperware containter It screws up the sound and you loose the bass.

Remember, the door sort of acts as a sealed enclosure for the (mid-range) woofer.

If you do get the baffle, cut out the back so it's only covering the top of the magnet.

Not if you're gentle.

I thought the baffles create bass if used ? I was going to try them on my rear speakers(5.25" Polks) as they have no bass coming out of them. If you do not use them on the fronts and use the Lucid adaptors what will stop the water from killing the speakers??

Not getting the car wet.

It is a secondary car for me so it never sees rain. However, I am still a little worried about washing the car. I did order the baffles, and hopefully they will work out for me.

I'm not sure if you are aware, but honda did make the effort to make the car just as waterproof as any other car. If you don't drive into any lakes or submerge the car in water I think you'll be fine.
