Default Do I need a Modifry harness?

Hi All,

I just purchased the Pioneer 8200BT and it says one of the features includes built in dash/remote control feature...so would I still need a special type of harness?

Also I removed the factory deck yesterday and noticed 2 harnesses connected to my 06, how does that work?

Thanks for the help.

You still need the Modifry DCI, if you take a look on page 4-5 MVH-8200BT Installation Manual you'll notice that it has a 3.5 jack for the Dash controls. Weather the Modifry DCI is compatible that another question I can't answer but in my opinion I don't see any reason why it shouldn't work. Hope this helps.

FYI a DCI isn't the same thing as a harness. The harness is just a wiring adapter, basically. The DCI is the actual interface between the head unit and the left hand audio controls.

From what I can tell, that just means that you can connect a wired remote. It doesn't mean that the wired remote jack is compatible with the left hand audio controls in the S.

Modifry's site has some compatibility information on it that you might want to look at. It doesn't list the head unit you're looking at but it does suggest looking for compatibility with a certain model of wired remote. You might want to shoot him an email.

I have a Pioneer DEH-P7200HD which is 100% compatible with the Modifry DCI for wired Pioneer headunits.

While that's not a guarantee it'll work, I'd be very surprised if Pioneer were to have changed everything around between the 7200HD and 8200BT as far as the wired remote protocol is concerned.

Thanks for the responses!! I ended up using a PAC interface control. I'm sure the Modifry is a lot better, but I got a great deal on it and it works just fine for the features I need.

Thanks!

Next step is trying to figure out how to bypass the parking brake lock out for video playback. I grounded the wire but it didn't seem to work....

I got the same head unit but now looking to getting my dash controls back. Did you install the pac yourself and if you did was it easy? Im going to be using the toggle switch method to bypass the parking brake.
