Default Do you have to

I have an Alpine 9830 and I was wondering if I needed to hard wire it to the battery? The reason I ask is that Lucid said that several Alpine decks you need to run a 10 gauge wire directly to that battery, I was wondering if my deck was one of those. Thanks

If it is not V-Drive, then you dont need to wire it to the battery.

What if it's V-Drive but the internal amp is not used? Is it okay to bypass the wire to the battery?

thanks.

i wired off the factory harness.

i'm not saying do it, as that is something you will have to decide for yourself. but given that the larger wire is justified by Alpine to handle the higher current draw for the V-drive.... if you're not using the V-drive, i seriously doubt it is necessary.

do some looking/searching, as this is a pretty common topic.
