Default Is door speaker mount depth same for ap1/ap2?

I found a link here that gives the mounting depth on door speakers. The dimensions were for an ap1. I have heard that the ap2 has doors that were reshaped to give more arm room. Is the speaker mounting depth different?

That or if anyone has aftermarket components in their doors, just tell me what you have because I am sick of trying to figure out which ones fit. You'd be amazed at how few speaker manufactures list the mounting depth of their speakers.

I don't believe there's a mounting depth difference between the AP1/AP2,
but I don't know that definitively. That said, I've heard of very few speakers
that won't fit using a 3/4" MDF spacer, usually just very specialized speakers
like the JL 6W0 mini subwoofer. People have installed a great variety of
speakers without problems. Once you narrow your choice down to a
speaker or two, post and I'm sure someone will tell you that they've done
it. Also, if anyone knows of speakers that won't fit despite the efforts of
a reasonably competent installer, why don't you post them here, along
with a description of the issue, eg. magnet diameter, magnet depth, etc.

Can you elaborate on the MDF spacer? I might be visualizing this incorrectly. If the speaker is sitting 3/4" above the mounting hole, won't it then be sitting against the door panel? Thanks for the info!!

the stock speakers sit in a plastic basket, as pictured on the website
you've already seen. a few speakers will fit in this basket, some more
will fit if you cut away the back of the basket (making it simply roughly
1/2" thick spacer ring), and most will fit if you replace the basket with a
3/4" spacer ring, which you can buy but most people (or shops) make
out of MDF (medium density fiberboard, readily available).
