Hi All,

I am thinking about replacing the door speakers in my 00 model. I have some 16" speakers to test and they will not fit in the plastic door frames.

Can anyone recommend a good speaker model that fits into theses plastic surrounds without trashing them?

How did you even get those home?

The door speakers are 6 1/2" Most "true" 6 1/2" speakers are a little too big for the stock baskets. I had some Polk Audio speakers at one point that fit, but I did have to hack up the basket a little.

You better bet is to get 6 1/2" speakers and make adapters to fit. Just trace the basket out onto a piece of 3/4" MDF. Cut it out, then use the speaker template to cut a hole to mount the speaker inside. Should take less than 1 hr to make (I spent about 2 hrs trimming the speaker basket with a dremel tool.)

 

I had a pair of Infinity Refrence 6.5 shallow speakers that fit very well and sounded really good. I have since moved them to the back and THEY FIT PERFECTLY!!!!! I replaced them with Infinity Kappa 6.5cs' components but had to cut the basket to get them to fit flush. Hope this helps!

I had a pair of mb quartz in my 03. They were awesome. Maybe better than infinity. Check them out before you decide.
