DVC wiring help please!
Hey guys, I'm a brand new S2000 owner and while I've been crawling the boards for a few weeks now, I've my first problem that I can't seem to find an answer too and I think it may come down to how my sub is wired.
I just installed a new stero yesterday and I thought everything seemed to be working alright. That is until I had my amp shut down on me and it was hot to the touch (hot enough to really hurt if I left my hand on it for more then a second). It was actually pretty cool out when it happened too since it was in the morning and I had been running it for maybe...an hour and a half before it actually shut down. Here's an overview of the system I installed:
Clarion head unit (can't remember the model off the top of my head)
6.5" Polk DB's in the door
Kicker zx300.1 mono amp (pulled the spare and it's sitting in the hole)
10" RF Punch stage 2, 4ohm DVC
So I wired the sub for what I 'thought' to be 2ohm, but I'm starting to question myself now. Looking at the picture at this link:

But there's a difference in the picture that I don't THINK should make a difference, but heh...I've been wrong before. I have the + and the - on both VC's 'bridged' together like in the above picture, however, they have the + on VC1 going to the amp + and the - on VC2 going to the amp -. I actually ran it so that the + and the - on VC1 goes to the amp. I didn't really think it mattered since they were all connected.
So...was I wrong? None of the other wiring diagrams I've seen have the amp hooked up to only one VC, which is why I'm questioning my idea that it was just the way they did it in the drawing. Am I running some odd Ohm load?
If I'm right though...what else can I look for? I double checked the ground and re-sanded it so it's on bare metal and cranked back the gains about 15-20% (I haven't run it for that long since doing that, but it still seems way hotter then it should be)...Or is this just something I'm going to have to live with since the trunk has crappy air flow? Also, I ran it with a 4 gauge power and ground wire too. So I was pretty sure I had my bases covered.

That pretty much clears up my question. I have it wired just like the last picture in your post. I guess I'll just have to see what I can do for some more airflow in my trunk. Thanks!
