Sorry to bring up an old thread but how did you hook up the trigger wire for your Alpine KCA-801B? I have one in my car and I can't figure out what to do. I know what to do to make it work, but I want it to be nice and clean, I dunno if I should have a toggle switch to toggle the 12 volts or what (mounting might be a problem then, dunno where I'd put it, maybe on the steering column heh so you can't see it but I can flip it easily.) Oh and the Xenarc screen, it has 1.1 million pixels, but the resolution is exactly the same as most other 7" LCDs out there, plus it costs a lot for a no name LCD, it's a bit of a rip off.

Basically you paid for a cheap screen that has 1.1 million pixels, but only 320,000 effective pixels. So it'd be like buying an amp that said "Over 100,000 channels" when it really has over 100,000 channels but only 2 work and the rest all share the signal from those 2. The high end companies don't bend the truth like that which is why they seem worse (when they are usually much much better.)

Love the Xenarc screen. I intend to use the touch screen version in mine.

NFRs2000NYC, will you do me a favour and measure the screen height and width (the actual screen as opposed to the surrond or case). I intend mounting it behind the JDM bezel in the dash and wonder if it will fit.

Xenarc screens are considered high quality, and their touchscreens are the standard for quality.

But ok....so lets say its the same resolution as other companies (which its not).....My 7" screen is 240. Alpine is 400 or so for a 6.5 inch, eclipse is 700, and the panasonic is 800. How is it a ripoff again?

I doubt the 7" screen (7" diagonal) will fit into the JDM bezel. Not many navis are 7"+. I believe the s2000 JDM bezel is the same as the CLS/TLS Acuras, and those are 5 inches or so diagonally.

Because Alpine, Eclipse and Panasonic are selling their names with the screens and Xanarc isn't. You can buy a lilliput touch screen LCD for $250, or a regular one for only $100 and they're the standard for quality carputer screens (they have VGA inputs on most of their screens and support good resolutions.) And the Xanarc is the same resolution as the other LCDs you've listed, but for some reason you decide to ignore the actual resolution and focus on how many pixels they have on their screens (they have 1.1 million pixels but only 300,000 effective pixels, dude trust me I work in a shop that sells these things, they can't display an image at a high resolution, they just have a ton of pixels)

$250 lilliput 7" touch screen LCD with VGA/RCA inputs -

If you ask anyone who has built a good carputer they'd tell you go with lilliput, they just can't be beat in price and quality.

Anyway, I was really just wondering how do you wire the Alpine KCA-801B trigger? I can't figure out what to do with it to make it not ghetto lol. I can ghetto rig it and it'll work but I really want it to be nice.

The opening in the bezel is 7.25" by 4". The space betweent he supports in the back is 7.5x4.25. It fits around the whole Nav unit including screen and buttons. I just want to mount a screen behind it.
