Factory Alarm
Does any here have a S2000 with a factory alarm? I've got a 2008 that I'm thinking about buying the factory alarm to install.
Please don't suggest an aftermarket alarm. I'm not looking to modify any of the wiring that a 3rd party alalrm would require.
I was just wanting to get a feel if folks thought the factory alarm was worth the cost.
Thanks
Chris

I had one on my car when I bought it. 2003 ap1. All it did was lock and unlock the doors, panic if you hit panic. No security what so ever as far as breaking in, etc. Why are you against aftermarket alarms? I have a shock sensor, tilt sensor, and proximity sensor. Leaps and bounds above OE. If you have someone that knows what they are doing its not that hard. I did mine myself and have for all of my cars. Works every day
I'm sure there are many people with the factory (dealer installed) alarm, but they probably
don't hang out in the electronics junkie forum. What do you want to know? It's an alarm,
without the bells and whistles that some aftermarket alarms are available with, such as a
proximity sensor.
With a convertible, they're likely to cut your top to get in, which is more expensive than
anything anyone might take, so personally I leave my car unlocked and/or top down all the
time, though it is garaged overnight.
Here's a source for the factory alarm with info including installation instructions.

Sounds like you just had the Factory Keyless Entry which came on every S2000, unless you had the Key Fob that had the words "Option" under the trunk release button was then you didn't have the Genuine Honda Security System Option.
The OE Security system came with a door ajar warning, auto relock function, sounds horn and flashes lights when triggered, glass breakage detector, door and trunk sensors, and a Optional Hood sensor, but I don't believe it had a Prox sensor for the cabin.
