Default Factory Alarm

I recently got my S vandalized, and it was then that I realized that my factory alarm is not working when the door is unvoluntarily opened. I tried it again the other day. I rolled down the window, and alarmed the alarm. I then reached inside the car, unlocked the door, and opened the door (w/o unarming the alarm). It should have gone off right? I checked the pin switch that is activated with the opening/closing of the door. Well, the dome light is working when I open/close the door.

Does any one have any suggestions? Am I missing something here?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions and/or help!

You did pay extra for a dealer installed alarm, didn't you? You realize that the alarm is a dealer added option only? Just checkin'.

It went off one time a long time ago when I opened the door w/o my remote...

BTW, I had noticed that my pin switch had needed a little coaxing to make sure that it works everytime. Is is possible that the pin switch wasn't working right when the theives broke in?

Where is the factory alarm module located anyway? .. (I don't have a manual)

Alarm electronics should be under the front driver seat. BTW, if you have an alarm, there should be a blinking LED somewhere. It is in the instrument cluster on an AP2 but elsewhere (center console?) for AP1. I may full of it on the led for AP1. The blinking LED on the radio is not related to the alarm.

It could be that the door switch was sticking.

So, I guess if I had an alarm, it went w/ the seats when they were stolen...

Do you recommend factory or aftermarket alarms? (I would like to retain factory look)

Take a look here at the installation instructions for the honda alarm:
http://www.handaaccessories.com/s2000/s2ksecurity.pdf

If you did have the Honda alarm, you would have the special remotes (with arm/disarm buttons), a small push button under the dash on the left side, an LED installed in the center console (unless they put it elsewhere) and possibly the optional hood pin switch.

If you have all that, then you had the Honda alarm. It would be cheapest to just get the Honda alarm again since you are already set up and wired for it. Of course if you did and they still stole your seats....

As far as after market alarms go, I am not the one to make a recommendation. Others can, though.
