Default Factory Alarm

I have a question, I see all these threads about people getting there seats stolen. Don't any of these cars have alarms? I have the factory alarm and was wondering how well it works. Is it one of those alarms that only honks the horn if the doors are opened?

Factory alarm? Those two words don't seem to go together.

And just how long do you think it takes to disable the factory alarm and unbolt the seats and be gone? You get 3 guys and I'll bet they'd be gone with your seats and out of sight in less than a minute. An alarm will not save your seats. An alarm will not save your car if a thief wants either bad enough.

well I'm gettin seat locks ofcourse, but just wondering what the alarm does, all mine seems to do is lock & unlock doors, open trunk, and has a panic button. I can reach in and open the doors, trunk hood and nothing happens, no honking, no lights flashing, nothing.

I have a maxima, and if you open the doors it starts honking.

so what's the deal with this lame "alarm"?

You would think a convertible would have a real alarm from factory.

sounds like you just have the keyless entry rather than the actual alarm-the alarm sets off the horn if the doors or trunk are opened after it's set by using the remotes to lock the doors

You don't have the factory alarm. That's an extra cost option.
