Post Factory Radio Removal

Can anyone tell me how to remove the factory radio without scratching/damaging the trim/panels around it?

See the trim and the edge around is all plastic made. I am trying to install the ipod adapter myself... I love my 06 S2 so much and I don't want to leave him any scratches so....

Please advise. Thanks.

open the radio door, pull on the bottom of the door... the bottom should pop out, then pull "straight" "dont pull up or it might break clips" out on the top.. its very easy, took 1 min..

Careful, I don't think its that easy to pull the factory radio in a 06. It used to be that easy but the 06-07 I was told is quite a bit more work, have to remove the center console and lot of junk.

I ended up plugging in my Ipod into the trunk CD Changer cable...took about 90 seconds.

Go to Wal-Mart or a parts store and get the Scoche(?) radio removal kit for $15 bucks. Kit contains an assortment of connectors plus a plastic pry bar for removal and a crimp/stripping tool.
Cheap insurance that you will have everything you need to correctly and easily remove your radio.

It takes an extra minute or so.

You just have to pop out the center console, but I prefer to remove it as it's easier to get it out of the way.

OP: here's a quick how-to, the how-to's will take you more time to read then it'll take to remove the radio: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...dpost&p=8145872

I pryed the above-radio vents downward (it's all one big piece) and then opened that like one big radio door. Get the center console a little out of the way so you have room to wiggle it out (pull up on the center console in various places to pop the clips out). There is a wire harness going to the radio door panel as well for the "Passenger Airbag Off" light. Having that light disconnected will actually set the airbag light in the cluster off should you start the car. Interesting, huh? Been there, done all this.
