finnaly gonna try active setup
lol well, it's a nice unit anyways. that's the one i have. i like it really well.
i would guess your final settings will be at the 3.15kHz +/- one setting fom that aren't the other two 2.5 and 4kHz? i would start with ~-12dB/octave slope. your slope will make a difference too--not just the crossover location.
for reference, mine is set at HPF = 3.15dB @-12dB/octave on the mids and LPF = 4kHz LPF@-12dB/octave right now. if you use steep slopes you can run them on the same frequency, but then you might need to attenuate that frequency a bit with the custom EQ to dial it in.
but definitely let the auto-eq and TA do its thing. it really does a good job for a click of the button deal. i hope you enjoy it!

Classical would be good (covers the full range very well).
I, personally, like Steve Vai's rendition of Somewhere Over The Rainbow.
When your system is tuned right, you'll know
Other than that, I also use Alison Krauss - Down to the River to Pray as it's completely vocals.
Just a couple ideas there.
Note that it's important for all these to be CD quality, not an mp3 (nor an mp3 converted to WAV/WMMA).

at first i was just playing music i like, then two things clicked in my head, they might not be full range, and they are mp3

ill try and grab some lossless/uncompressed stuff to see if i can tweak some more.

yeah i figured mp3 was not gonna give me a good sound to tune with. good reccomendations thanks.

Well, tuning with music you like is definitely important. I mean, my music might sound great, and yours not so good on the same tune (shouldn't, but it could).
