First Impression - Sound Splinter 10" subwoofer
Well I finally was able to test one of the Sound Splinter subs - RLi-10.

My first impression is that this is essentially an eD ExA series sub without the CF cone. They have low production rates, but very good customer support and Mike Grynick (owner) is very responsive to the multitude of Q's I had regarding the product.
The BAD - first sub I received was actually dead on arrival. I mounted in my enclosure first and all you heard was a metallic clack, clack, clack. Pulled it and installed it in my home-made version of a stealth box ( 0.8 ft^3) and it did the exact same thing. The next morning I called it in and Mike was happy to send me another one.
The GOOD - Upon receipt of the second sub I installed it first in my 0.8 ft^3 well enclosure. This thing sounded amazing. Super clean bass response, pretty good excursion, and rock solid well below the 50 hz range. The bass was very natural sounding and the sub appeared to be very efficient - I was quite happy with the SPL with only pushing about 250-300 watts to it.
Next I put it into my side enclosure. Again the results were quite favorable, with the exception of some notable roll-off below 50-60 hz. But again the sound was clean and natural. I did note that if I pushed it hard (350W or so) it would get a little poppy in the smaller enclosure (not noticed in the larger one). I did not play around with the amount of fill in the enclosure - so it may be something that I can correct with a little dampner adjustment.
Overall I was quite please with the sub at this point. I will be running it for a couple of weeks to see how she fairs with time and abuse. It will get lots of highway time on the way over the SoCal Megameet. After I get her broken in I will pull out the Bruel & Kjaer and do some SPL and freq response testing.
Not sure why my flash made the cone and gasket look so bronze.

the atlas and avalanche. i know they were on special last month, dont know if there are any left.
imo, the atlas has a better low end and more musical than the SS.

any comments regarding comparison to the 11Ov2? you can PM or email them to me if you like...
the 2 big problems w/ any sub going into one of William's enclosures is depth and required enclosure volume. and that's really not William's fault, but is a function of the S2000.
