Default getting new toys... will this sound good?

front - dynaudio 340 (tweeters in pod, mid woofer in oem tweeter location,
woofer in oem panel location)

rear - jl audio zr650 (installed behind the seats)

trunk - sub jl audio 13tw5

amps - jl audio hd 600/4 (cabin speakers)

jl audio hd 750/1 (sub)

custom fiberglass boxes, one on right for sub and one on left for amp rack. and all suede covered.

all the wiring and connections will be jl audio

what do you guys think of this setup?

will this sound clean?

and lastly how much do you guys a setup like this would cost?

thx

The Dynaudio components, and the 3-way especially, are very good, but when you get to that level and price point, it comes down to sound signature. Make sure you like the "Dynaudio sound", vs other competitors. Speakers are the most subjective part of an audio system.

That said, whatever you do decide on for the front, if you insist on adding rear speakers, get the same line as you have in front. Otherwise, you'll be messing with the overall timbre of your system. With a 3-way in the doors, I just don't see why you'd need another set of speakers in the small cabin of this car.

I've read some good things about the JL 13tw5, but is your intention to trunk room? If so, I wouldn't mount amp rack on one side and sub on the other. And if you do go with that alignment, your money will go farther with a conventional sub.

This sounds excessive.

Remember, small is the new big

the reason why im deciding to add rear speakers is because when i added the oem speakers to the back... it made a noticble difference.

i wanted to create a better surrounding sound stage.

as for the trunk, i would like to be able to put a bag in there if i ever decide to buy something. i dont want a system to take up the whole trunk.

how are you going to tune this system? with these higher end pieces it would do them injustice not to tune them, i sugest a audio control dqxs - you are going to have a hard time putting the 13 tw5 on the side it is a little tall, i just squized a 12 in there

you say you want a better sounding stage, adding rear speakers will bring you stage down and back.

a 3 way system is nice but i think overkill in a convertable. a good 2 way setup that can handle 250-300 watts, sound deadend the doors and put a 10 or 12" in the trunk or a 10" in the passenger footwell (project under construction stay tuned for more details) use a good sound processor, the amps you mention are great, i would either add a batcap or a small battery, loose the spare tire, use space for battery & processor fuse box ect, and build amp rack verticle on back of trunk, this leaves room for a golf bag.

i was unaware that i needed a sound processor to tune the sound. i thought it was all done with the headunit pioneer 980bt and crossovers.

would the processor make that much of a difference?

and you said by adding speakers in the rear.... it would "bring stage back and down"

that do you mean by that?

a proper stage in a car is suppose to be: if you closed your eyes and listen to the music/vocals it should be coming from the up in front of you like at a concert, not stronger to one side or other, but a good center, some wil agrue rear fill from back speaker, depends on you taste, in a 2 door convertsable i say NO.

i dont know your heade unit, or it tuning abilities, maybe someone else with knowlegde will chime in,
every car, speaker, amp, has its flaws, you can compensate this tuning the system with a paramtric eq (this is simple explantion)
using white noise and a meter (RTA) you can see the peaks and vallys in the sound spectrum, and adjust the equal to give you smooth tranistion.

I dont like a perfectly smooth graph, heavier bass with a little increase in highs, i would give up 1-2 points on the RTA for a better sound and higher sound quality score back in my competing days,
