it does actually. and it says the "oxygen free" type of wires or the process that gets them the oxygen free removes other contaminants as well reducing over all resistance. it talks about silver coated wires.

All in all. it's not worth it to use "special" designer wires since it's much cheaper to run homedepot lamp wires. lol

This is true for almost everything audio/video related. The ONLY place where your wires will matter(over reasonable distances) in audio or video is during recording or transport with analog signals in an electrically noisy environment. In that case, shielded or balanced cables are a good idea because you can get interference from those other sources.

I get all of my cables from Monoprice when possible. Don't ever spend more than $10 or so on a <15ft HDMI cable. My car has an el cheapo lightning audio kit in it for RCAs and speaker wire.

RCAs are one of those electrically noisy places that I'm willing to put up more $$$ for better shielding. I'll admit that in my truck I'll be running the Monster 400 series of speaker cable because of the shielding - eliminate as much noise as possible for a high fi system.

HDMI cables should never be bought for >$30. It's a digital signal - it's either there, or it's not.

digital signal can be degrated. and every signal has its limits. limits can be extended by signal strength and type of shielding.

Digital is high/low, 1/0. It's either there, or it's not. As far as degradation of digital signals, that can really only occur if you're losing packets of info - which means a break in your wire. The only benefit higher dollar HDMI cables offer is the robustness of the cable. And lets face it, most home installs, that cable will not be moving once it's been installed...
