That will work to. However you get 2x more bass inside the cabin with it out.

You don't need it so it's sitting under my bed right now

This is a old thread but I removed my tray like 2 months ago. Today I removed all the carpet in the trunk and noticed the softtop glass is resting on the amp where the spare tire is. It looks like the softtop glass part fell in more over time. Its resting on amp, so I asume its alright.

Thanks for the info.

So those of us who have removed the tray should consider either putting the tray back or finding some other support for the soft top?

I dont see anything that could cause any damage to the window. I have thought about it and I think if I put back the rear tray, the bass wont be as good with the tray out.. Im going to leave the tray out for now. I think the rear tray would be the best support for the softtop, so I wouldnt fabricate something else.

Was that a b1tSh or what? Man it wsnt't that long to take out but it sure was a pain in the rear. The woofers hit really hard now, can't wait until my component system comes in and my other amp.

I removed the tray over a year ago. A crescent shaped scuff mark on the rear window surfaced soon afterward. I didn't know what to think of it. Further investigation reveled that when the top was down, the window was resting on the lip of the spare tire.

I used all the plastic stuff, found in "Wash and Wax", and finally got ride of the scuff. I have been using a microfiber towel as a buffer whenever the top comes down.

If the top is resting on anything, it will get scratched, in time.

Recently I removed the long wraparound trunk cover, behind the fuel pump area. You know? Looking in the trunk, from the rear, the wrap around piece on the left side? The base now has a clear shot into the cabin. What a rush.

I have a problem, in that, this is so ghetto. I'm thinking about replacing all parts with vents. I just hate the idea of mucking up stock pieces. Decisions, decisions.

I'm just wondering if anyone has thought of the idea of taking this piece out, slapping dynamat all over the bottom of it, and reinstalling it, I personally don't want to remove this piece, but it really does suck that it rattles so much.

Zombie thread.

Reviving because out of the dozen or so out there, this one actually has instructions on how to remove that piece of plastic.

What a pain in the butt that was.

The bass does seem to sound better with it out, but I still have rattling to deal with.

Also it looks absolutely horrible with with an open gap. I think I'm going to have to vent it some how.

I hope after all the effort in getting rid of the rattles, it works.

Venting it won't work. Why not? Because the basic problem is that you have plastic rubbing against plastic.

You have the tray out? Cover it with some inexpensive speaker-grille cloth (use 3M adhesive spray (I like 77m), light coat and let it tack up so it doesn't seep through the cloth) before reinstalling.

You're suggesting I cover the entire panel with speaker cloth?

Or just the large opening it left behind? Seems like it would be weird and hard to stretch cloth across that area.

I was thinking of possibly using sound deadener on the shelf, along with foam tape on the sides where it touches other parts.
