Hardwire Belkin IPOD Charger?

Default Hardwire Belkin IPOD Charger?

I bought a Belkin charger today,and im going to hardwire it. So i cut the cig lighter adaptor end off. I have a gray and a white wire,i hook up both ways to the battery and i got nothing.What could be wrong??

ok so i hook the cig lighter adaptor back up and plugged it in the the green light came on,on the belkin charger.The ipod however does not show that it's charging is this normal? If so how am i suppose to know what wire is positive and negitive if the ipod will never show when it is charging

That is not normal. The iPod should indicate its charging. Which belkin adapter are you using? They make a few, one of which has an audio out port. If you have that one, then cutting the end off likely destroyed it. WHat I would reccomend is rather than modifing the Belking piece, just hide another cig lighter behind the dash. They are only like $4 at Autozone, and can be hidden pretty easily. I just did this for my Sister's car. Wire in the cig lighter behind the dash, run the aux input to the audio out on the Belkin, then plugged the Belkin into the cig lighter I added and routed the "dock" connector up into the cabin.
