in order to hardwire this unit u must buy a cigarette lighter plug (female end) retain that in the back of your dashboard... because your navi does not run off straight 12v it atually runs on like, 6 volts of power... so if you cut that plug off and hook it straight to the car.. the navi will not work, and chances are that you will fry it ... so if you get the female cigarett lighter... it comes with two ends... which you can either hook up to your acc wire, coming off your ignition column... ooorrrr.... use the acc wire and ground wires behind the radio.... which im sure you can find either of those wire colors on here

^^^ I jsut did this today and it works like a champ. I ran my wire up along the A pillar and keep the Navi in the left hand corner of the windshield. I'd recommend anyone that does this to add an inline fuse as well just in case.

Here's another option for the OP. I got the Modifry 3" bracket for the side of the cluster area. I'm going to hardwire it into the dash area and I'm sure it'll look really nice.

Plus if you want to remove the unit, just reach forward and unclip it in <2 seconds. And yes, that's Richard Marx playing in my CD player.

Yeah, I looked at that option, but aesthetically it doesn't do it for me. I like the easily removable factor of the windshield mount. And I can run a wire right up the A pillar and it will be mostly out of the way.

Uh, yeah...did you see my original post, with the link in it? You don't HAVE to use a cigarette lighter power cord, because you can buy a modified 12V plug. I was asking if they work well.
