Default Help me pick out my next head unit

I've had my s2k for 12 years, and the stereo was one of the first things I did to it. I've been through a couple of head units and subs over the years, and my current setup looks like this.

Pioneer DEH-P9800BT
PPI PCX-4800
Boston Acoustics 6.5 Pro Components
JL 12w3v3

My only real complaint with the Pioneer is that the BT connectivity is maddening. It won't reconnect automatically when you start the car (multiple phones). You have to initiate either by cycling BT off/on on the phone, or through the head unit menu. I want something that will do this automatically. I mean, had a rental Ford recently that would auto-connect to BT audio and resume playing.

Things I would like in a head unit:
Nice EQ
Crossover control for outputs
High Voltage pre-amp oututputs
BT is a must (phone and audio profiles)
BT AUTO-reconnect
XM / HD Radio nice to have

Any suggestions? Current phone is a Samsung Galaxy S4 if that helps.

Did some initial browsing this afternoon, come up with a few possibilities

Pioneer DEH-X9600BHS
Alpine CDE-HD149BT
Kenwood KDC-BT955HD

The Pioneer seems slightly de-contented compared to my current one, although the BT/android integration should be better by leaps and bounds. Alpine's phone ties slant heavily towards the iPhone (and I'm using Android). The Kenwood isn't flashy (single color display). Clarion's current offerings down even acknowledge the existence of Android phones - all about the iPhone/iPod.

Trying to think what others I should be looking at. I really get the sense that the high end has moved on to 2-din Nav units, and the single din has become lower than it once was.

Do you know if the Alpine gives the option not to loose the dash control?

No idea. I actually modified my dash controls years ago to "press" buttons on a cannibalized remote. Does the job without the delay of most aftermarket solutions at the time.

So, as long as the unit comes with a remote (they all do), I'll simply redo what I have now.

If you want that you need to get a DCI/SWI. Modifry's is always highly recommended.
