Default HELP! Pioneer 8400MP and 9400MP Question

Can anyone help me out here, I'm at it again. With some help I'm going to try the Pioneer dash adapter for the S, from Europe.

I'm considering the Pioneer 8400MP and 9400MP head units.

Does anyone have the Pioneer 8400MP installed in their S? Does it fit properly with the wider face and trim piece, and does the face have any problems folding down or anything, hitting the stock stereo door, etc?

Also, those with a 9400MP. Does this thing have an infrared remote or RF. I know it comes with that little steering wheel clip on deal, but I can only use it if it has an IR eye on it.

Pictures would help as well.

Thanks!

i'm 99% sure that the 840 won't fit. I can't imagine the 940 remote works any way other than IR.

I have the Premier 740, and i was thinking of the 840 and 940. The 840 will not fit, we tried to see if it would, but wouldn't. 940 will fit, but not sure about the IR. I know that when the radio door is shut, my remote doesn't work unless door is open. If you have the money than go 940, other than that, the 740 has all the needed features that the 940 has, cept the few extra screen savers and 2-3 minor extras. Nothing that much greater than the 740.

speed that's not true at all. The 940 has a pretty damn nice EQ built in. This is an awesome feature for a really nice system. It has the best eq i can think of in any head unit. If this isn't important to you or you're going with an external eq then the 740 is fine but it's definitely not just a worthless extra feature.

The 8400 will not fit - tried it, returned it.

I believe the 9400 remote is RF - but could be mistaken (I saw one but did not take a good look at it).

I thought the 9400 was RF, but then someone said they were using a PAC-SWIX with it which is IR. I really wish there was some way to confirm this.

Honestly I would get the 7400, but I just don't like the way it looks. I like the 8400, but it doesnt fit, that leaves the 9400 or the HD model, which is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too expensive.

I wish the Alpine adaptor would work on the headunits here. I like the 7994 the best, but I havent been happy with any implementation of the PAC adaptor that I've seen.

Regardless of the remote type (IR, RF, etc.), you could always just hardwire the dash controls switches to the pads on the remote board. Hide it all behind the dash and you're in business.
