I tried searching the forums for this but couldn't find an answer. (found lots of other threads though!)

Today, when I tried to play a CD in my stock stereo, a strange thing happened. The CD loads, then flashes T-00, like it always does, then it flashed E-00 and ejected the disc. Thinking there was a problem with the disc itself, I tried another, and another, and another.

The last time I played a CD in it was about two or three weeks ago, but it worked fine then. The radio also works fine. I just can't play CDs.

According to the User's manual, E-00 is a system error or focus error and the remedy is to make sure the disc is clean. All of the 4 or 5 discs I tried were clean.

Any ideas what it could be or how to fix it?

The weather has been changing here quite a bit lately, so it may have been due to moisture condensing on the focusing lens. Try it again tomorrow after the car has warmed up for 10-15 minutes...if you still have the problem, it's time to have the player replaced (even though it's a simple repair, they'll just replace the whole thing).
