But if my ballast is damaged, how could my other lights work? (highbeam, daytime). All the wires go through the balast.

My mechanic thinks it could be the Running light control relay that could be burnt???

we don't have day time running lights down here BUT hight beams do not go through the ballest (one for each hid)

i would still guess you have the same problem i did - bad connections
