Default Hlep Please - Need to remove head unit

I'm hoping that someone can point me in the right direction. I need to remove my OEM head unit from a MY 01 AP1.

I've done searches on this forum, but I'm coming up blank. There must be a DIY thread somewhere to remove the head unit. Can anyone help me?

Thanks in advance. Sorry for the typo in my heading. I don't know how to edit it now, but I hope you got the message.

you know the radio door?

Open it and pull the whole thing straight back. That will dislodge the part that holds the door. The door, frame, and the air vents come out as one unit, easily.

Then, there's 2 Philips head screws on either side of the radio. Take them out and pull the radio...that's it!

Easiest head unit removal I have ever done! Do exactly what STEVEN975 said, pull the radio door STRAIGHT BACK, then its just 2 screws!

Thanks, to both of you. That seems too easy. The code needs to be reset after a battery change out, and the stealership closest to me wants $150 to pull the radio to get the serial number in order to look up the code. But I want to put in a new head unit anyway, so this is good timing.

There's a DIY AP2 head unit thread. Main difference is that you don't need to pull the console for the AP1.

Put the car in 2-4-6 gear, open the radio door, grab the radio door on each side and pull... it will feel like youre going to ripe the door off but the lower half will pop free, then wiggle the top to pop it off. Once thats off its just 4 screws, 2 on either side.

It takes 5 minutes honestly to have the radio out...
