How to Mount IPOD
I'm going to replacing my dead Alpine 7982 with an Alpine CDA 9885 (I'm 95% sure). However, I'm not sure i understand how i would mount the IPOD with the adapter cable.
My preference would be to mount the IPOD in the glove box, running the cable through the center tunnel, but not sure how to get the cable up into the "glove box"
I see that a few people have put the ipod in the glove box, but can't determine how the cable is routed. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I put mine in the mesh pocket on the passengers side of the transmission tunnel. Can't see it when it's there, didn't have to drill any holes and real easy to get to for removal. Just coil the cable up with the IPOD and stick it all into the pocket.

Mine is sorta tough to see in this picture, but here:

The cable was run straight back from the radio under the cupholder. I pulled all the trim from the back of the trunk and if memory serves, you can drill a hole from there. Run the Ipod cable under the glove box and then up into the hole you drilled. I finished mine with a rubber grommet. The best way is actually to thread the cable into the glove box first, and then around back under the cupholder. That way you don't have to drill a bigger hole to fit the end of the cable through that connects to the Ipod.

There's a thread somehwere which explains how to get the cable through the hinge area where the glove box door connects. Summary: Remove the center console plastics. Remove both right and left panels behind each seat. Screws are hidden in the hooks, use a flat head pop the covers, remove two screws from each panel. This will reveal the screws that are on the left and right of the glove box. Remove those and also the one on the inside. I believe there may also be two visible once you get the center console plastics removed. Once they're all removed take some string or wire and drop it through the gap in the hinge. Pull up the bottom of the glovebox and snag the string.Tie it to your iPod cable, iPod connector side, not the head unit side. Pull it back up and you'll see that you can wiggle through the gap.
I have a bit too much slack in my cable so sometimes it gets caught when I close the glovebox door, but otherwise it's fine. It might be kinking the cable over time, but I generally leave the iPod in there all the time as it's being replaced any once I pickup the iPod touch
