Default How would i pull this off?

Alright, i want to install lambo doors on my s2000 (its a company car so we use it to promote our stuff). I'm going to shave off the door handles and therefore i'm going to install a door popper so i can pop the doors open. In addtion, i'm going to install an "automatic" mechanism that will allow me to raise and lower the lambo doors.

The only problem is how can i get the door to shut on its own?? Like how do i get the door to shut itself once it returned to its down position? Is there anything on the market right now that would shut the door for you?

I remember working on a bmw not too long ago where if you didn't close the door properly and you pressed the lock button, it would pull in the door and close it for you. I also saw this on the dodge caravans where you can open the doors, trunk, and everything and close it with the remote.

What would i have to do to get this to work?

Let me know guys,

Dave

If you wanna be really cool why don't you use Koenigsegg-style doors.

You would need a piston/actuator with a locking hinge mechanism. This is available on high end Mercedes models. Maybe you can find it at a junkyard from a wrecked one. The fact that you are asking this question might show you that you are embarking on a difficult task.

P.S. You need to modify your fenders, or have the stupid version of lambo doors (first out like a normal door, then up)

Lambo doors really are over done, almost every car at the shows now seems to have them.

Either go old school (suicide them) or do something original.

Maybe take some door workings off a mini-van and work on a sliding system to make the door pop out and slide back resting in front of the rear tire.

While these would cost more (though AutoLoc has a decen suicide door kit) they will stand out in a crowd of lambo clones.

Has anyone done Suicides on an S before?

COOOL thanks a lot guys...

i know htey are over done, but they still pay the bills ;-) so as long as people want them, i have to display them!

Any other ideas that may help me out?

I think it would be cool to have them open as you walk towards the car and have them close as you walk away...

You want a cool idea, and almost no one does it?

How good is your shop?

Are you familiar with the Alpine X5 demo show car?

Completely unhinge the door...weld actuators to it.....bolt the actuators to a frame rail under the seats (which would need to be raised up, but thats easy) and have the doors wired to an AUX button on an aftermarket alarm remote. This way, the doors will open up OUTWARD, about 2-3 feet.....

Here is a pic to help you understand what I mean....

See how the door is on an actuator? That would be WAAAY more "original" than lambo doors.

wow that is pretty cool, however, as far as functionnality... it would render the car completely useless. We need to mod the car in a way that i can still drive it around to events and gatherings so as to promote the shop and the products. I feel that this would be a waste of a 40k$ car. Unlike alpine, i don't have millions to sell my name & products, i just have an s2000 and a 350z to promote the shop.

Thanks for the idea tho!
