My wife's CRV has a stock radio in it. Recently the sound cuts in and out (radio and CD), but the unit is still getting power since the lights are still on and you can hear a sound when you turn it off and on.

The unit only does it occassionally but when it starts doing it, it will continue for awhile (1 hour or so). Other times it works fine. For instance we drove for 5 hours straight and it worked perfectly, then on the way home it worked for the first 3 hours then had problems for about an hour and then started to work again.

One other odd thing is that I can be on a perfectly flat smooth surface and if I give it gas the sound will come back, releasing the gas pedal sometimes makes the sound cut out.

I have my old S2k HU that I can swap in but am having difficutly removing the shift knob (apparently there are 2 clips that I can't seem to locate).

Any ideas? (electrical or how to remove the shift knob)
