Default I need some Q&A's answered for anyone knowledgable!

Q's:
1) How is it possible to wire three subs into a 2ohm stereo or mono configuration?
2) Does wiring two 4ohm create a two ohm impedence?
3a) What do you think is a better and more efficient amplifier? (Fosgate/Soundstream/Audiobahn)
3b) Do these amps do well with highs and lows?
4) Are HU and Amplifiers HPF/LPF's good quality or do you need a separate electronic x-over?
5) What do you think would sound the best for a guy that is not looking to pound down the block but likes to pump it up if need be? (three 8",two 10",one 12") I am afraid that the 12 will be too rumbly..
6) How much wattage can the My02 handle if a 1farad cap is used until the alternator is under stress?
7) Sony/Fosgate/Pioneer HU? Which one has the best sound and reliability?
8) Which speaker sounds GREAT for a great price?? Where?
9) Is adding a set of components and another set of tweets in the A-Pillars too much? Will it ruin the sound? I have heard too many people speak of not enough highs with the components in the door!
10) What are the advantages of dual voice coil, single voice coil?? What hits harder?
11) Audiobahn,Infinity,Rockford Fosgate, Alpine, kicker subs??? Which is the best thump/quality? Which is the cheapest and which is the most expensive??
12) Has anyone heard the basslink? Does it pound? for 234$$ is that a good buy???
Thanks guys. If someone is willing to chat stereos I would love to chat on the phone to get some info. I am just in the process of deciding which speaker/subs/amps/HU to buy and I want to make a good choice and people seem to have conflicting opinions..... Cameron thanks guys...

A's:
1) Depends on how many ohms the subs are...
2) Yes, in parallel.
3a) Soundstream
3b) The answer to 3a does
4) HPF, no. Good components will come with x-overs. LPF, yes for a sub.
5) I have one 12" in my car..so that will be my answer.
6) Don't know, but MY00 is handling over 500 watts with no cap.
7) I don't like any of those...but Alpine or Eclipse would be a coin toss for me.
8) Depends on how much you want to spend. I like Focal 165kp's for about $340.
9) I like them in the doors.
10) DVC can handle more power and gives more configurations.
11) I like JL, but that's just me.
12) Nope, haven't heard the basslink.

Even after all this I would recommend getting what YOU like...go to the stores and listen to the different options and look at the HU's to see what works for you. What's good enough for me might not be good enough for you and vice versa...Good luck.

Ok, here goes.....

1)Answered^
2)Answered^
3a)Soundstream is a better amp than the other two.
3b)Soundstream and Audiobahn are both great for highs
4)For subs yes, for highs, the provided crossovers are all you need, but
yes, you still have to switch the amp to HPF for the highs.
5)None, one good 10"
6)Cap does nothing to help car's wattage handling---I would say we can handle about 675 REAL watts. (approx)

7)Neither, had them all, didnt like them. Go Alpine.
8)Subjective, but Kappa Perfects for 200 bucks are hard to beat. You can get them everywhere online. Focals are nice as well.
9)Yes, good components, are engineered with 1 tweeter, Good tweeters are incredibly powerful (ie kappas).....A car with a cabin as small as an s2000 will sound like crap with an extra set of tweeters.
10)More flexibility for wiring. I belive their potential is the same.
11)Infinity, is more for quality sound, not block shaking. For good overall subs....Eclipse, JL, AlpineR, Soundstream, Elemental designs, Adire, Phoenix Gold Ti. Kicker, Rockford, as more DB subs and are poor quality.
12)No the basslink doesnt remotely pount. Its nice for a background added bass, but nothing like a real sub.

Hope that helped.

Thanks guys I really appreciate your opinions and will definitely take your advice. If anyone has anymore comments they are welcomed. As for the Audio FAQ I read so many threads that were contradictory that I wanted to run my own thread to keep things in perspective as every one of us has different goals to one degree or another.
Peace.....

gotcha... but a lot of the stuff we covered is also in the FAQ. lots of people seem to not read it, and we spent a good chunk of time making it...

best of luck.

My turn

1) Depends on the nominal impedance (Znom) of the subs you have. In parallel, you'd want (3/Z)^-1 >= 2. In series, you'd want 3Z >= 2. Solve and you either want a Z >= 6 or a Z >= 0.67
2) Yup. In parallel.
3a) With no extra info, I'd say Soundstream. But remember, Soundstream has lower lines and Rockford has high ones so don't be surprised if you come across an RF amp with better features/durability than your Soundstream.
3b) Yeah. Why not?
4) I've never had any problems. And adding more components just means you have more chances to induce noise.
5) My 12 is far from rumbly. Don't be fooled into thinking that to get rid of sloppy bass, you need to pick a driver/box with poor extension.
6) No comment. The idea that caps do anything worthwhile is an urban legend.
7) Pioneer of those. (Also check out Clarion, Eclipse, Alpine, Panasonic, and Kenwood)
8) Great speakers for what price?
9) You can adjust the tweeters' output by playing with the crossover that comes with component speakers--an easier solution than adding more tweeters
10) None except that DVC will have two wiring options.
11) Yeah...start looking at Adire...
12) Uh...good buy if you want something easy to do.

Oh, and I'm always willing to chat if you have more questions...my sn is theb0mbrman if you catch me on AIM. If you're in a pinch, I could do phone but I really don't really have the attention span to be as helpful there.

My turn

1) Depends on the nominal impedance (Znom) of the subs you have. In parallel, you'd want (3/Z)^-1 >= 2. In series, you'd want 3Z >= 2. Solve and you either want a Z >= 6 or a Z >= 0.67 bomb got it right.

2) Yup. In parallel.

3a) What do you think is a better and more efficient amplifier? Soundstream / Phoenix Gold

3b) Do these amps do well with highs and lows? YES

4) Are HU and Amplifiers HPF/LPF's good quality or do you need a separate electronic x-over? The HU's will be fine for our application.

5) What do you think would sound the best for a guy that is not looking to pound down the block but likes to pump it up if need be? (three 8",two 10",one 12") Two tens will almost be too much IMHO, on ten is plenty for the s2k.

6) How much wattage can the My02 handle if a 1farad cap is used until the alternator is under stress? the alternator for the s2k is excessive. You shouldn't run into problems with less than 1200 watts.

7) Sony/Fosgate/Pioneer HU? Which one has the best sound and reliability?
Alpine is best .High End Pioneer is OK.

8) Which speaker sounds GREAT for a great price?? Where? Infinity Perfects and Focal.

9) Is adding a set of components and another set of tweets in the A-Pillars too much? Will it ruin the sound? I have heard too many people speak of not enough highs with the components in the door! They had bad components. It's what youlike though. Wire the tweets and tape 'em before attaching them. You will figure out what you like. But no need for two sets. That would be to much.

10) What are the advantages of dual voice coil, single voice coil?? What hits harder?DVC has more wiring options. You can get the DVC's tohit harder with less ampage.

11) Audiobahn,Infinity,Rockford Fosgate, Alpine, kicker subs??? Which is the best thump/quality? Which is the cheapest and which is the most expensive?? Infinity or Alpine or Elemental Designs

12) Has anyone heard the basslink? Does it pound? for 234$$ is that a good buy???
With the equipment mentioned, the basslink is destined to dissapoint.
