Default Upgrading MY00 sound system

Hey guys. So I need some more good sounds. Not beats / subs. Just need some more sound.
Heres the thing. The most important thing is I want tweeters.
I will be either getting AP2 door panels or upgrading my pillars but 1st question 1st...how do I hook up sound to the tweets?

Is it as simple as splicing into the door speaker wires?
Do I need to attach it some how to the back of my radio?
Do I need to upgrade my radio?

Please help, thx

You need to buy a component set. This will come with a new 6.5 door speaker, crossover and tweeters. The main wire coming from the Stereo or amp will hook up to the crossover and there will be two wires coming off of the crossover to go to the 6.5 speaker and one to the tweeter. I would never suggest splicing a tweeter into a door speaker. you dont want any bass or midrange sound pushing through the tweeter. you would blow them in a matter of minutes. If you want more answers from the stereo guru's then I would post in the Electronics Subforum.

Also 02-03's have tweeters in the doors, maybe you could try to find just the little plastic housing part and cut and screw them into your current door panels. Or of course get 02-03, or ap2 door panels that already have them.

So you don't have an aftermarket headunit? Even if you get new speakers and stuff they won't sound to good with the OEM HU. Get an aftermarket headunit and some component speakers and i'm sure you would be happy. Also if you want a little extra, mount your old OEM door speakers in the rear panels behind your seats. That's what I did and they sound great.

I also found for sale a new radio control unit that turns the mode button into a 4way directional
Wonder if it will take the dci too
